A NEW start

The summer just cooled down for Lashanda Hussey, a single mother of three, who received a 2002 Ford Explorer from Vehicles for Change. With a set of keys in her hand, Hussey no longer has to endure a two-hour commute to and from work each day and is able to spend more time with her children.

“My job is only a 12 minute drive away, but I had to take three different buses to get to work and home, which took about two hours, sometimes longer.” said Hussey.

Now having access to a vehicle, Hussey will no longer have to pay a late fee to her daughter’s daycare, leaving extra money in her pocket to take her children to do fun activities that they all enjoy, such as going to the eldest child’s, Davonte, football games, Chuck-E-Cheese and to the park.

“Vehicles for Change changes lives, it definitely did that for me. It made my life easier. Receiving this car is the candle on the top of my cake.” said Hussey.
